We are now officially a co-operative, hurrah! Apparently, according to Rachael, the most important thing now is to get an official seal - secretly think it's because she just wants to play with it but would be kind of fun to have one at some point. Our bank account has taken a little longer than expected mainly because we had to photocopy that many passports and Santa definitely got in the way of time on that one, but thankfully all sorted now and should have bank books in a day or two.
We have had a response to our offer on the Boot Factory and as a Board sat and discussed it this evening, but because it has to go back through solicitors first I can't really go into detail on here just yet. We can say we are definitely still moving forward on a building but as with all these things until funding and solicitors meet in a happy place nothing is certain.
The other things we discussed this evening were around the practicalities of running the pop up shop and making sure that no one person ends up with all the donkey work as a volunteer so need to make sure that people are clear on what they are doing and when. Thanks to all those that have offered time in the shop and we will definitely be taking you up on it, and as soon as we have a start date we can begin sorting out rotas etc. Everyone is busy with 501 other things to do, so we do appreciate all the offers of help (cake as a bribe for anyone undecided?!)
And then the magpie fest began!! The question arose about what sort of products we would be likely to have in the shop and because my front room currently resembles the stock room of the shop we were able to rootle through various boxes of goodies. Four supposedly intelligent women going 'ooh' and 'shiny' for half an hour!
In terms of membership we are incredibly humbled by the amount that have already signed up as members, and working very hard on making sure that all the things we have in the pipeline happen sooner rather than later so that your membership actually gives you something back. The Mander Centre who will be hosting the pop up shop are checking all the information we have given them and hopefully we will have a start date soon to share with you all. And again, thank you for all the goodwill messages we receive and support from partner agencies - it all shows that it's not just a bunch of us getting distracted by shiny things but will actually deliver some real benefits to loads of local artists and makers.
If you want to get involved as a member then please follow the LINK to our members page, look forward to meeting you soon!
